realtime and pasttime

Is the notion that only real time is 'real' reconcilable with the important reality of memory? How do we know if what was archived is real, or was real, or is a real archive or something that was real... does that make it real now? Perhaps the real time act of revisiting a memory of the past makes that memory real, but wouldn't it be a new real, separate and modified from its original. If reality exists only in our perceptions, than any time one analyses the past in the present they are in a sense changing that past, adding the context of the present to the meaning of that past. Archives of the web on the web are themselves the web. Archives existing in the present bring their contents into the present, and we can only think about that content, that past, in our present, because the present is where we inexorably are.
