In regards to heterotopias, have online role playing game environments been considered? I just saw this trailer that seems to show how the border between our real and ideal-world selves can become strangely and sometimes dangerously blurred. Maybe sometimes people are more themselves in a false world, where they aren't judged in the same face to face way, in a community that is more receptive to acting out fantasies. Similar to how Case felt more alive and himself in cyberspace, it seems that the subjects of the film share a similar feeling of belonging in the skins of their characters.
